Medical Assistant Certification Online
American Allied Health now offers RMA(AAH) certification online through our secure virtual testing process.
The medical assistant plays an integral role in the medical field by serving as an intermediary between the doctor and the patient. They carry out both clinical and administrative tasks that aid physicians and other health care practitioners. Some of these important tasks include: preparing exam rooms, managing laboratory tests and x-rays, updating patient medical records, and most importantly, building relationships with patients.
The medical assistant is one of the fastest growing occupations in the U.S. and is expected to rapidly increase in the coming years; with advances in medical technology and the increasing elderly population, medical assistants will be in high demand.
Becoming a nationally registered medical assistant with American Allied Health sets you apart in this competitive job market. It shows that you are proficient in your field and more importantly, ensures the safety of the patients that you will be caring for. Many employers and states require certification because it demonstrates one is a dedicated and qualified allied healthcare professional. AAH registration offers third-party confirmation of your capabilities to employers and patients.

Certification and CMS Criteria for Meaningful Use: How AAH Can Help
American Allied Health's RMA(AAH) certification ensures medical assistants are CMS compliant with Meaningful Use Stages 1, 2, and 3.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) specified two rules regarding medical assistants that put in orders: 1) the MA must be "credentialed" and 2) the credentials must come from an organization other than the organization employing the MA.
With the "Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health" (HITECH) Act came certain regulations, including criteria for Meaningful Use. Under this law, doctors, healthcare professionals, clinics, and hospitals can qualify for Medicare and Medicaid incentive payments when they meaningfully use certified electronic health record (EHR) technology. Furthermore, the HITECH Act imposes Medicare payment penalties on healthcare providers who do not meet these standards by January 1st, 2015.
Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive programs have set certain thresholds that must be met to meet requirements for Meaningful Use. One such requirement directly affects medical assistants: as of January 2013, only "credentialed" medical assistants are permitted to enter medication, radiology, and laboratory orders into the Electronic Health Record (EHR). To be CMS compliant, healthcare providers must ensure their MA's are certified if they put in orders.
This means certification for medical assistants is now more important than ever.
